PCI
DAQ boards. Four E series PCI data acquisition boards are now available.
The PCI-6071E is a 12-bit, 1.25 MS/s multifunction plug-in board with 64
analog input channels and two 12-bit analog output channels. The PCI-6031E,
PCI 6032E and PCI 6033E are 16 bit, 100 kS/s plug-in boards with 64, 16
and 64 channels, respectively. All boards in the series feature a shielded
latching metal connector and NI-DAQ driver software. National Instruments,
6504 Bridge Point Parkway, Austin, TX 78730. 512-794-0100.
Bus
remote access solution. The RASCAL RS1000 Model 4802 is a 48-port, 56K/ISDN
ISA Bus remote access solution for PC-based servers running Microsoft's
Windows NT operating system. RASCAL offers an out-of-the-box solution for
adding remote access to Windows NT-based servers. By using standard PC hardware
and software interfaces, RASCAL simplifies remote access server installation
and maintenance. Ariel Corp, 2540 Route 130, Cranbury, NJ 08512.
609-860-2900.
Host
adapter. The 32-bit ExpressPCI Ultra2/WIDE SCSI host adapter is designed
to provide fast data throughput, delivering transfer rates of up to 80 Mbytes/sec.
It offers users and integrators the advantages of backward compatibility
with existing single-ended SCSI devices, the ability to overcome SCSI cabling
limitations and support of PC, Mac and DEC Alpha systems. ATTO Technology
Inc, Audubon Technology Park, 40 Hazelwood Dr, Bldg 106, Amherst, NY
14228. 716-691-1999.
Ethernet
adapter. A 3U fast ethernet LAN controller is now available for CompactPCI
applications. The CP340 LAN provides automatic detection and switching between
10Base-T and 100Base-TX data transmission. The controller chip provides
a dual mode interface for 10Base-T and 100Base-TX, a media access controller
with internal send and receive buffers, a 32-bit PCI-bus master interface
and management functions. PEP Modular Computers Inc, 750 Holiday
Dr, Building 9, Pittsburgh, PA 15220. 412-921-3322.
Imaging
devices. Two low resolution, digital output, CMOS imaging devices are
available with an extensive range of features. These highly-integrated,
160 x 120 pixel image sensors come in both monochrome and color. Both versions
offer 8 bit digital output, auto exposure, serial control and single 5V
power supply. Their low cost and digital format makes these ideal for low
resolution security. VLSI Vision, 1190 Saratoga Ave, Suite 180, San
Jose, CA 95129. 408-556-1550.
Power protection products. MAINSPRINTRAB is a line of AC power protection products
for printed circuit board mount applications. It features a pluggable, hybrid
protection circuit with MOV (metal oxide varistor) and gas tube technology.
The MOV circuit is thermally monitored and features a disconnect, LED indication
and alarm contacts, which activate upon failure of the MOV. The user can
replace the protection plug without shutting down power. Phoenix Contact
Inc, PO Box 4100, Harrisburg, PA 17111. 717-944-1300.
Frame
grabbers. Two economical machine vision frame grabbers for the PCI bus
(model 611, pictured) and CompactPCI bus (model 711) convert analog signals
from video cameras into digital data. Up to three cameras can be connected
to either board. Four input and four output lines are available to control
camera focus, pan, tilt and triggering circuits. These support a variety
of digital formats, including RGB24 and Y8, that are directly compatible
with Windows bit maps. Sensoray, 7313 SW Tech Center Dr, Tigard,
OR 97223. 503-684-8005.
Computer integrated manufacturing. Through a partnership with
CAE Technologies, PowerPDB design software will provide a seamless link
with test, assembly and repair modules of C-LINK, a CIM solution for automation.
The new integration enables board layout, test and manufacturing engineers
to work from one database in parallel, incorporating downstream requirements
into the original design. C-Link can extract data from CAD systems, develop
circuit descriptions for circuit board testing, and automatically create
the necessary documentation for constructing in-circuit/functional bed-of-nails
fixtures. PADS Software Inc, 165 Forest St, Marlborough, MA 01752.
