Nylon resin. A new test system uses two-piece carriers molded
from Zytel HTN high temperature nylon resin to support grid relays during
rigorous thermal cycling and electrical testing. A new carrier design in
the system is made of Zytel HTN so that operators can insert relay leads
into testing sockets at zero insertion force. The material provides the
ideal combination of high-temperature resistance and dimensional stability
required. DuPont Engineering Polymers, PO Box 80022, Wilmington,
DE 19880.
Polymer release liner. The LFP 2100 Series high strength laminated
multi-ply 100% PTFE release liner for polymers resists chemical attack and
moisture, and will not contaminate the material. It operates up to 500°F
and conforms to trays and molds without reinforcement. Sintered and laminated
into a single structural component, the liner is offered in several colors
and sizes from 0.009- to 0.080-in. thick and up to 58-in. wide. Textiles
Coated International, 105 Route 101A, PO Box 532, Amherst, NH 03031.
Stereolithography resins. EXactomer HTG stereolithographic resins
produce parts that retain modulus above 150,000 psi at temperatures above
100°C, and even retain their properties in boiling water. These resins
are a family of UV-curable and used in stereolithography for rapid prototyping.
The newest additions to the line improve throughput, simplify processing
and produce more accurate, more functional finished pieces. According to
the company, these resins are not limited to form-and-fit prototype applications.
The resins are suited for investment casting, RTV and injection mold tooling
applications. AlliedSignal PhotoCurable Materials, PO Box 1039, Morristown,
NJ 07962. 973-455-6985. Thermoformable sheets. Two sheet products made from NORYL GTX and XENOY TFS100 resins are opaque engineering thermoplastics that offer high impact performance, chemical and temperature resistance, and thermoformability. The two sheets are well suited to a variety of transportation applications. Sheet made from XENOY resin meets a number of challenging material handling applications. The other sheet is based on NORYL GTX resin, which provides temperature resistance higher than that of XENOY resin. NORYL resin is particularly suitable for high temperature baking ovens required for in-line automotive painting. General Electric Co, One Plastic Ave, Pittsfield, MA 01201. 800-451-3147. |
