The PentaH⁵ hermetically-sealed coupler controls temperature and humidity, eliminating environmental exposure during the optical fiber manufacturing process. It degrades the fragile filament that comprises the fiberoptic fusion area. It prevents microscopic cracks from forming, keeping out water molecules. The coupler also prevents adhesives and epoxies used to attach internal substrates from being exposed. After removing the coupler's ambient atmosphere, a vacuum evacuation and penetration system hermetically seals the fragile fiberoptic filament. The coupler protects against physical shock due to rough handling or movement. Age tests show the coupler will perform for more than 30 years, even under harsh conditions.
