8501_707.e Nd:YAG laser system. This compact, high-performance Nd:YAG laser system features harmonic wavelengths of 1904 nm, 532 nm, 355 nm and 266 nm. Designed for laser-induced breakdown, Raman spectroscopy and laser ablation, the flashlamp-pumped Tempest provides exceptional beam quality and energy stability. Easy to install, it offers repetition rates of 10 Hz, 20 Hz and 30 Hz, and provides energy output as high as 200 mJ/pulse at 1064 nm. New Wave Research, 495 Mercury Dr, Sunnyvale, CA 94086. 408-328-0220. Circle 707.

8501_708.e Optical lenses and windows. Optical lenses and windows are available in sizes from 1Ž4- to 4-in. O.D. with thicknesses from 0.20- to 0.120-in. Configurations include lenses, windows, domes and square or rectangular substrates. They feature surface finishes of 20-10 to 10-5 scratch-dig depending upon material. The lenses and windows are used in medical, laser, temperature and sensor applications. Meller Optics Inc, 120 Corliss St, PO Box 6001, Providence, RI 02940. 800-821-0180. Circle 708.

8501_715.eCO2 lasers. A new family of RF driven, sealed-off 30- and 40-watt CO2 lasers incorporate newly-patented Slab Non-Wave guide technology. Advantages of the new lasers include integrated air-cooling that requires no external cooling fans or water cooling, and a compact design to allow simplified integration. Lasers can be equipped with an optional straight or right-angle beam pack and integrated red diode laser pointer. Lasers require a 48-volt external DC power supply. Universal Laser Systems, 16008 N 81st St, Scottsdale, AZ 85260. 800-859-7033. Circle 715.

8501_716.e Laser-protective observation windows. Protective windows allow visual access to laser application areas while providing optical protection from dangerous laser light for employees and observers. Laser windows provide an area for customers, visitors and vendors to view operations safely. The windows are made of acrylic and are available in a standard size of 24- x 36-in., but may be custom cut to larger or smaller sizes. Trinity Technologies, 4110 Central Ave NE, Minneapolis, MN 55421. 800-393-5565. Circle 716.

8501_721.e Fast flow lasers. This series of fast axial flow, gas cooled, industrial CO2 lasers is available in 2200 watt and 3500 watt DC excited and 6000 watt AC excited models. Useful for materials processing solutions requiring high cutting and welding quality at higher power levels, the processing quality of the laser is intensified through its: compact monobloc design; high value engineered resonator; programmable solid-state power supply; ultra quiet turbine; and PLC control. Convergent Energy, 1 Picker Rd, Sturbridge, MA 01566. 800-LASER 60. Circle 721.

8501-722 High-strength epoxy. TRA-BOND 2115 is a clear, high-strength epoxy adhesive. It is capable of withstanding 30 seconds of 60 W direct-laser energy. Its low shrinkage makes it ideal for bonding optical components where alignment accuracy is essential. It is appropriate for laminating glass and rigid plastics as well as for bonding metals and ceramics. Convenient cartridges and premixed and frozen syringes are also available. TRA-CON Inc, 45 Wiggins Ave, Bedford, MA 01730. 800-872-2661. Circle 722.

8501_719.eLEDs. The surface-mount, dome lens  Hxx1105W LED series is ideal for backlighting and light pipe applications. Measuring 3.2mm L x 1.6mm W x 1.85mm H, it's available in red, orange, yellow, green, pure green and blue, with luminous intensities up to 52 mcd with a 20 mA drive current. The LEDs have a narrow viewing angle of 40 deg., can be used in a standard surface-mount footprint, and can also be installed in a reverse-angle configuration. Stanley Electric, 2660 Barranca Parkway, Irvine, CA 92606. 800-LED-LCD1. Circle 719.

8501_720.e LCD technology. LCD technology allows liquid crystal displays to act as electronically controlled light shutters. Displays based on this technology can switch from light blocking to light transmission, and vice versa, in as little as 200ms. The shutter tunes to specific light wavelengths, allowing it to act as an electronically controlled optical filter. The technology is used for high-information displays by providing gray scale shading. Crystaloid, 5282 Hudson Dr, Hudson, OH 44236-3769. 330-655-2429. Circle 720.

8501_703.eTwo-array light pipe. This optical light pipe permits two LED indicators to be positioned above corresponding RJ45 jacks or D-subminiature components. Complementing a four-array light pipe for similar applications (part no. 515-1022), it's designed for use with a variety of SMT LEDs and fits into printed circuit boards to create arrays that reduce insertion costs. It is made of high-transmissivity, UL94-V-0-compliant polycarbonate material that provides a wide viewing angle and ESD protection. Dialight Corp, 1913 Atlantic Ave, Manasquan, NJ 08736. 732-223-9400. Circle 703.

8501_704.e Flexible sensing fibers. DURA-BEND plastic fibers carry light through tight-radius bends with no signal loss or fiber damage. Using the fibers, plastic fiber optic assemblies integrate into previously impossible locations. The fibers are 25 times more flexible than 1.0mm plastic fiber optic assemblies that suffer light attenuation when bent past a radius of 25mm. The fibers bend to a radius of 1.0mm without light signal loss. Banner Engineering Corp, PO Box 9414, Minneapolis, MN 55441. 888-373-6767. Circle 704.
