Innovations

Tubular solenoids
The TSL Series of long life tubular solenoids is designed for both continuous and intermittent application. The units do not use brass or stainless steel for the plunger guides, which are susceptible to premature failure when subjected to side loading. Instead, a thick proprietary Teflon lined guide will not gall, rub off or flake under various conditions, including side loads. Life expectancy is between 50 and 100 million operations, depending on size and stroke. Three sizes are currently available: ¾-, 1.0- and 1.5-in. dia. Intersol Industries Inc, Bensenville, IL.  www.rsleads.com/302df-140

Torque rods
Designed to provide proper suspension movement without any restriction, Uni-Rod torque rods replace the company’s fixed-length torque rods in various OEM applications with “perfect fit.” The kits use a full, permanently lubricated spherical ball engineered to withstand high-frequency oscillation and high impact shock. The ball joint design provides a wide degree of angulation with high load bearing capacity, allowing for replacement of offset designs with a straight Uni-Rod kit. ZF Lemforder Corp, Lancaster, SC. www.rsleads.com/302df-141

Rotary shaft seals
Suited for high-intensity operating conditions that challenge most elastomeric type seals for rotating shafts, the Rotaflon series of rotary shaft seals withstands high surface speeds, high temperature and/or high pressure. Rotaflon MC has a polymer seal lip with or without an embedded spring energizer, while Rotaflon RB has a polymer sealing surface bonded to an elastomeric seal lip. Specifications for this series include surface speed up to 5900 ft/min, temperature range of –58° to 500°F, good chemical resistance, and suitability for operation with poor lubrication. The seals optimize the balance between frictional contact high enough for sealing, yet low enough to avoid excessive heat and wear on rotating shafts. American High Performance Seals Inc, Oakdale, PA.  www.rsleads.com/302df-142

CAD eCatalog for linear motion
This linear motion component manufacturer has launched an online 3D/2D-powered solid-modeling eCatalog for finding, configuring, viewing and downloading components in a chosen CAD software format, ready for integrating into customer designs. The program runs with SolidWorks 3D PartStream.NET. Currently available online for configuration and download is the company’s entire line of ActionJac worm gear screw jacks. The eCatalog will expand to include ActionJac electric cylinders and additional linear motion components, such as ball and screw assemblies, ball spline assemblies, linear bearings, and shafting. Nook Industries, Cleveland, OH.  www.rsleads.com/302df-143

Spur gears
The SUSL series of Module 0.5, 0.8 and 1.0 stainless steel spur gears features the patented Fairloc integral hub fastening system that eliminates marred shafts. These 20-degree pressure angle precision gears conform to JIS B 1702 Grade 4 standards. Suited for applications where phase adjustment, timing, position adjustment and frequent removal of the component are design factors, the Fairloc hub fastener consists of two slots machined into the hub — one radial and the other angular — that create a transverse wedge that remains attached to the solid portion of the hub on one side. A socket head cap screw passes through a clearance hole in the solid hub to the transverse wedge to clamp the shaft securely; the screw can be tightened and released repeatedly without marring shaft or affecting torque transmission. Quality Transmission Components, Garden City Park, NY.  www.rsleads.com/302df-144
