MOTION SPOTLIGHT
Top Product

SQUIGGLE motor

  • only four parts
  • smooth nano-motion

This miniature linear actuator uses ultrasonic vibrations to rotate a threaded shaft directly. A piezoelectric ceramic tube supports two threaded nuts — when power is applied to the tube, it vibrates the nuts in an orbit around the shaft, like someone keeping a Hula Hoop upon the hips. In turn, the shaft rotates and translates in and out. Overall size of the device is less than 10 mm in dia, and less than 20 mm in length. Range of motion is 50 mm or more, at a force up to 5N and a resolution better than 10 nm. The actuator operates at speeds of 1 µm per second up to 5 mm per second. The piezoelectric design consumes very little power during operation. The motor is suited for precision applications such as biological research, vacuum and space instruments, microelectronics testing and optical alignment.

BLDC
These microprocessor-controlled brushless motor packages offer long life and full speed control. High efficiency combined with integrated drive electronics allow for a much smaller and lighter unit. The motor is designed for OEM use in the HVAC and appliance industries, as well as in the commercial contractor tool and high-end blower markets.

Medium-size DC motors
Improvements to DMI motors include reduced commutation stresses for outstanding characteristics in the shunt range to provide full output up to very high speeds. The size of the winding slots has been reduced for more space for magnetic material and more efficient cooling. And location of the cooling ducts opposite and close to the winding slots gives a completely symmetrical distribution of the magnetic flux.

Integrated servo motor
The SM3416 SmartMotor produces more than 1 N-m of continuous torque in a low cost NEMA 34 package. The 5 lb motor has a no-load speed of 2600 rpm. As with other members of the SmartMotor family, the device features multi-axis coordinated motion, network bus capabilities of RS232, RS485, DeviceNet and ProfiBus, and highly flexible on-board and expandable I/O.

High torque stepper
Designed for maximum torque-to-package size, this size 34 motor delivers up to 1200 oz-in. of holding torque. Standard motor lengths are 2.60-, 3.78- or 4.96-in. High-grade steel lamination construction provides low core loss, resulting in lower operating temperature at high speeds. Permanently lubricated ball bearings provide increased service life.

Universal motor drive
UD Series Drives provide control of both induction motors and permanent magnet brushless motors in four different modes of operation. The driver can run motors open or closed loop with a wide range of control functions, power ratings and line voltages. Features include torque/speed/position modes, 10-in/5-out digital and 3-in/3-out analog. Programming is through a built-in keypad/display or external PC.

Brushless servo drives
The S200 series are all-digital industrial servo drives with a velocity loop bandwidth up to 800 Hz, which provides increased system throughput and simplified tuning. High resolution, 24-bit feedback and a high performance 3-5 kHz current loop bandwidth permit smooth motion and rapid start/stop action. The drives come standard with torque or velocity control, and optionally support indexing, CANopen or DeviceNet.

Servomotors with Modbus
Popular Modbus protocol has been added to the SilverMax line of integrated servomotors, allowing a PLC to control a servo’s position, velocity, acceleration, torque, program flow and more. SilverMax can, in turn, report back such data as actual position, velocity, torque, temperature, program state and I/O status. Third party products such as HMS’s AnyBus can attach a SilverMax to Profibus, DeviceNet or Ethernet.

Flux drives
The VLT 5000 FLUX Series of drives provides up to 500 hp of dynamic flux vector control for closed-loop applications. Direct control of the motor shaft, based on motor current, results in servo-like performance with significantly greater response time than standard general purpose control. Available communication protocols include RS232, RS485, Profibus and DeviceNet.
