Rotor Clip Company, Inc, Booth 2854. Retaining rings.
This company will display retaining rings, both internal and external, that fit shafts
and housings/bores from 1mm to 889mm in diameter. Retaining rings are non-threaded
fasteners that require a simple groove machined on a shaft or in a housing/bore for
installation. Once installed in the groove, the ring creates a shoulder that retains
assembly components on a shaft or in the housing. Rings are produced from carbon steel,
stainless steel or beryllium copper. 
Smalley Steel Ring Company, Booth 653. Wave springs.
Additional stock sizes have recently been added to Smalley's large selection of
Crest-to-Crest wave springs. Smaller diameters (3/8-, 7/16-, 1/2- and 9/16-in.) are
readily available from stock in both carbon and stainless steel. More than 500
Crest-to-Crest configurations are available. The wave springs are commonly used for their
ability to reduce spring heights by as much as 50%, with equal force and deflection as
coil springs. 
Tech-Etch, Inc, Booth 1481. Low-profile clip-on
shielding gaskets. Adding to its line of low profile RFI/EMI shielding, this company
introduces its new clip-on beryllium copper gaskets with shielding effectiveness up to
100db attenuation levels. The finger stock gaskets measure 0.08-in. H x 0.55-in. W and
0.12-in. H x 0.75-in. W. The smaller gasket effectively closes gaps down to 0.025-in.
Clip-on mounting provides a reliable mechanical installation when there is an accessible
mounting flange. 
Techno-Sommer Automatic, Booth 1034. Vacuum cups. This
new series of vacuum cups feature built-in vacuum generators for pick and place operations
involving any non-porous material. Ferrous materials, for instance, sometimes exhibit a
"slide" motion when maneuvered by magnetic grippers. This problem is often
corrected with the use of suction cups. The built-in venturi vacuum generator eliminates
the need to use a separate vacuum pump. The units are available on a special free trial
evaluation basis. 
USM Industrial Fasteners, Booth 2314. Polymer-headed
blind rivets. These rivets with molded, self-masking polymer heads are a unique
innovation in sheet metal fasteners. The polytop rivets were developed for joining
pre-finished painted and plastic-coated sheet metals. They avoid the need for extra
finishing and offer an alternative to enamel coated rivets or rivets with caps. Designers
can use them on products where visible fastenings need to blend with base materials or
where products could be assembled at a lower cost than hidden fastenings.
Boston Gear, Booth 232. Helical gear drives. The
800 Series of in-line helical drives include double and triple reduction units, with
standard NEMA C-Face flanged and direct input non-flanged configurations. Available double
reduction ratios range from 1.5:1 through 70:1, and triple reduction ratios of 36:1 to
250:1. All units are adaptable to floor, sidewall or ceiling mounting, and versions are
offered for washdown service. Oversized ball bearings reduce straddle distance between
bearings. 
Vlier, Booth 1639. Plungers and levelers. This
comprehensive line of spring plungers and levelers provides consistent quality and ease of
installation, making them the choice of designers in many industries including
electronics, aerospace, medical, automotive and marine. Posi Hex, a standard plunger, is
easily installed and removed from the back by simply using a hex wrench. In addition to
Posi Hex, a wide range of standard, stubby, ball, quick release and threadless plungers
will be displayed.
Felton Brush Inc. Booth 834. Metal strip brush
products. These brushes are often the choice of OEM product designers because of the
wide range of regular shapes and styles and irregular configurations that can be
manufactured without significant tooling costs. Backings of steel, stainless, brass and
aluminum provide consistent dimensional stability and repeatability after forming and
complete structural integrity after installation. Strip brushes easily solve prototype and
brush design problems using a broad selection of bristle materials.
Fishertech, Fishercast, Booth 2023. IMA &
intricate small components. These two divisions of Fisher Gauge Limited will display
assembly die casting services, demonstrating an Injected Metal Assembly (IMA) die casting
technique. A joining demo assembles a disc to a shaft. Despite the 800°F temperature of
the injected molten zinc, a paper label on the disc face remains unharmed. A production
demo shows how the process forms high-strength wire and cable termination assemblies in a
single step.
