Heavy Duty 57mm Geared

Permanent Magnet Stepper Motor

Thomson Airpax Mechatronics, Port Washington, NY, recently introduced its heavy duty, 57mm geared permanent magnet stepper motor that features a very high torque to package ratio. The Model C57L048A25-S uses sintered iron gears and contains a gearbox with a 10 ft.-lb. torque rating, with a power input of 8 watts.

The gear train has a 2 degree backlash (maximum) with a gear ratio of 200:1. Its output speed of 2 RPM at 320 steps per second makes it ideal for pan and tilt operations in security cameras, satellite antennas, and various other positioning functions in the medical, instrumentation, HVAC and machine tool industries.

The motor measures 57mm (diameter) x 16mm (length), while the gearbox measures 75mm (diameter) x 50mm (length). It contains oil-impregnated porous bronze bearings and radial ball bearings at the output shaft. The 2 lb. device has a DC operating voltage of 12 volts, and also is available in a 5 volt version. Users can specify the motor supplied with or without connectors.
