National
Design Engineering Show...preview'99
Visit Designfax at Booth #2852
Welcome to our National Design
Engineering Show preview. The next 80 pages offer an advance peek at
products, services and design solutions on exhibit at this year's show.
Designfax is proud to be a participant of the 1999 event taking
place in Chicago March 15-18 at McCormick Place South. Our exhibitor descriptions
list company names, booth numbers and -- like our other magazine spotlight
sections -- concise product descriptions, addresses, "circle numbers"
and phone numbers so you can contact these organizations directly.
Can't make the show? Simply circle number 850 on the reader response
card and mail it in. You'll receive information on all the exhibitors listed
in our issue. It's the next best thing to being there.
Position
sensors, Booth 1021. The Temposonics Auto-SE position sensor
bundles high performance and low cost into a very high-production package
suitable for automation. Using the same technology found in the Temposonics
industrial position sensor, The Auto-SE units suit applications ranging
from medical care equipment, automobiles, aeronautics and agricultural machinery,
to appliances and other consumer products. MTS Systems Corp, 14000
Technology Dr, Eden Prairie, MN 55344-2290. 612-937-4000.
Circle 500.
Prototype
die casting service, Booth 1240. Fishercast-Division of Fisher
Gauge Limited is introducing a prototype die casting service. This will
enable customers to precisely assess the specific mechanical properties
and performance of a zinc alloy die cast component, and make any necessary
modification before it goes into full production. Fishertech injected metal
assembly systems will also be displayed at the booth. Fishercast/Fishertech,
PO Box 179, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada K9J6Y9. 705-748-9544. Circle

Lift 'N
Latch damper, Booth 2467. This damper is based on the Lift 'O
Mat gas spring, combining a plunger damper and prop rod into a single unit.
It can be designed with an approximately linear, progressive or degressive
spring rate curve to match the particular need. The characteristic curve
of the spring describes the progression of the force of the gas spring over
the stroke, from the extended to the compressed state and vice versa. Stabilus,
1201 Tulip Drive, Gastonia, NC 28052. 704-810-3552. Circle 818.
Linear
shafting, Booth 1047. Steel shafting for Simplicity bearings
has a unique induction hardening process with a tightly controlled temperature
that insures uniform case hardness and depth. The RC60-64 shaft is straightened
to 0.001-in. per foot, then ground and polished to less than 8 RMS. Available
sizes range from 1/4- to 4-in. and from 5mm to 80mm. Pacific Bearing,
PO Box 6980, Rockford, IL 61125. 800-962-8979. Circle 509.
Miniature
frictionless tables, Booth 119. The NDN series offers an integrated-cage
centering mechanism and rugged two-piece construction of corrosion resistant
materials. The series is available in sizes ranging from 7 to 15mm in width
and 4 to 8mm in height. There are 10 models available in lengths from 10
to 80mm and strokes from 5 to 70mm. The slides have load carrying capacities
of 760 to 1480 newtons, and an accuracy of 2 to 4 microns. Schneeberger
Inc, 11 DeAngelo Dr, Bedford, MA 01730. 800-854-6333. Circle

Air control
nozzles, Booth 2032. Ideal for surface drying, product cooling,
material cleaning and conveying, the 707 WindJet nozzle produces a round
spray pattern of air in a single stream. It is available in aluminum and
stainless steel along with ABS plastic and polyphenylene sulfide. A 727
model is ideal when targeted blasts of high-impact air are required. Spraying
Systems Co, PO Box 7900, Wheaton, IL 60189. 630-665-5201. Circle

Modeling
software, Booth 257. The 3D Lightyear software package is 3D
System's first release of part preparation software for the Windows NT systems.
It combines the functionality of Maestro with the Windows NT platform. The
intuitive software offers NT "look and feel," online interactive
help and tutorial capabilities, and streamlines the transition process of
users of Maestro software. A single software license allows for an unlimited
number of users. 3D Systems, 26081 Avenue Hall, Valencia,
CA 91355. 805-295-5600. Circle 508.
Brushless
DC motors, Booth 1450. The Silencer series of brushless motors
offers diameters from 1.2- to 4.0-in. and lengths from 1.3- to 5.5-in.,
continuous torques from 2.4 to 519 oz.-in. and speeds up to 20,000 rpm.
The motors feature bonded rare earth magnets and aluminum housings. Options
include electronic drivers, encoders and gearheads. Litton Systems
Inc, 1213 N Main St, Blacksburg, VA 24060. 800-336-2112. Circle
505.
3D automation
software, Booth 1625. CADKEY Design Suite integrates a comprehensive
range of specialized 3D automation tools including advanced wireframe, surface
and solid modeling, combined with design productivity features. This program
gives CAD buyers the option to choose from a 'building block structure'
of upgradable CADKEY and CADKEY-integrated products. All CADKEY products
are available for Windows 95/98/NT. Baystate Technologies,
33 Boston Post Rd West, Marlborough, MA 01752. 508-229-2020. Circle 510.
