Conductive grease
Electrostatic discharge from motor shafts or other nearby sources is known to reduce the life of shaft-support bearings from years to a matter of months. Conductive bearing greases help reduce or prevent such damage, but the metals and other conductive materials used in traditional greases are not lubricious and the conductivity is often short-lived because of particle matrix break-down. A white-paper entitled Capturing the Synergistic Effect of Additives to Formulate a Long-Life Electrically Conductive Bearing Grease describes an alternative approach to grease design. Nyogel 758G starts as a lubricious bearing grease with a blend of ester oils (which have an affinity to metals) and lithium soap for channeling properties. Instead of relying on metal, carbon or organic conductive additives, a proprietary combination of standard lubricant additives fortifies the oil to protect it from oxidation while synergistically creating an electron pathway through the grease.

Bearing grease
Designed for high-speed machine tool spindle bearings, G-75 grease combines a synthetic base oil with a polyurea thickener instead of barium complex soap thickener, resulting in exceptional viscosity/temperature behavior characteristics, extreme thermal stability, low oil bleed rate and high load capacity. It operates at 1.5 M dN continuously.

Contact bearing
This company’s new contact bearing uses a zero clearance design to increase precision and tracking. Maintaining contact with the shaft and various temperatures, the bearing provides shaft self-alignment and absorbs resonance vibration. Linear motion is made possible by its self-aligning capabilities. Each is made of an internal lubricated thermopolymer for economical durability.

Thin-film lubricant
Ultra-Film thin-film lubricant is tackless and odorless and withstands loads up to 400,000 psi and temperatures up to 600°F. Containing no moly, solids nor zinc, it deposits only a clean, semi-dry film that does not attract airborne pollutants and particulate, thereby eliminating deposit buildup, sludge and caking. Thermally stable, the film has excellent adhesion, unlike comparable thin-film lubricants.

Polymer bushings
Ketron PEEK bushings have replaced PTFE bushings to quadruple bearing life. The new bushings are non-galling and non-seizing in contact with metal, and can withstand 180°C operating temperatures. The low-thermal expansion material can be machined to tight tolerances, and the low-friction, wear-resistant material permits close running tolerances to eliminate corrosion, galling and wear problems.
