Fiber-optic adapters
The FORA fiber-optic rotary adapter is similar to standard fiber-optic adapters — a.k.a. bulkheads, mating sleeves — except they allow the fiber to rotate freely while maintaining uninterrupted transmission of optical signal. These FORAs have the identical mounting features as their non-rotating counterparts. The RFC series is designed to be a drop-in replacement for standard FC bulkheads. Princetel Inc, Lawrenceville, NJ.

Light pipes design guide
Describing passive light guides that bend and transport light from internal boards to external displays, the Light Pipes Design Guide includes 50 different light pipes in four different categories: Light Bar, Right Angle, Vertical Arrays and Front Panel Indicator Light Transporters (this latter capable of transporting light up to 800 ft away from the light source). Lumex Inc, Palatine, IL. www.rsleads.com/304df-233

Sheathed optical fibers
Designed for use in harsh environments, SteelSkin plastic optical fibers combine bending capability with a durable stainless steel sheath. The fiber design features the company’s Dura-Bend multi-core construction for flexing in tight radius (10.00 mm) with no signal loss nor fiber damage. The 2.9 mm OD has various termination options and can operate between 0° and 70°C.

Fiber-optic adhesive
The LX20098 room-temperature fiber-optic adhesive offers the fast cure needed for field termination. The system has a low coefficient of thermal expansion to minimize stress on the glass fibers and improve optical alignment. It is available in the company’s custom bipaxs two-part room temperature storage package, pre-measured to ratio in small quantities.

Light pipes
VLPR series vertical rectangular light pipes offer versatility for applications where light from a SMD LED is carried directly to a front panel or enclosure. The rectangular lens pipes mount vertically via crush pins to the PCB. The narrow profile and small footprint enables high-density side-by-side installation for bar graph arrays and similar limited-space arrays. BivarOpto div. of Bivar Inc, Irvine, CA. www.rsleads.com/304df-236

OCR software
The EconoCR industrial optical character recognition (OCR) software has been enhanced to make it compatible with various third-party environments and processors, including C++, Windows 9X/NT, various DSPs, and LabVIEW, etc. A Windows-based demonstration program is downloadable from the company’s website. Advanced features can read even poor-quality characters. Concepts In Computing Inc, Beloit, IL. www.rsleads.com/304df-237

Wireless antenna
The HDA high dielectric antennas offer high efficiency, immunity to detuning and directionality in a compact size. Multiple antennas can be integrated into a product for diversity processing — which is difficult with conventional approaches that require at least a half-wavelength of separation (e.g. 7 cm at 3G frequencies) to avoid coupling. Directional transmission can be designed in to reduce power consumption. Antenova Ltd, Stowcum-Quy, Cambridge, UK. www.rsleads.com/304df-238

Custom thin film substrates
This company’s thin film resistor-conductor substrates are manufactured using a proprietary TantaMax reliable low TCR thin film process. Their multi-layer composite film has an over layer of tantalum nitride for environmental stability exceeding that of nichrome thin film. These films feature corrosion resistance, absolute TCR to ±10 ppm/°C, TCR tracking to 1 ppm/°C and tight absolute and ratio tolerance. OhmCraft Resistor Products Div, Honeoye Falls, NY.  www.rsleads.com/304df-239

PCB shield
An easy-to-mount fence system is offered for shielding printed circuit boards. One single fence strip can be turned into a range of boxes, with dimensions increasing by steps of 6.35 mm (1/4 in.). The fences come in widths of 4, 8, 12, 16 and 20 mm, or can be sized to customer’s specification. Thickness ranges from 0.12 to 0.50 mm. It is also available with self-adhesive mounting. Holland Shielding Systems BV, Dordrecht, The Netherlands. www.rsleads.com/304df-244

Trim stock
Fender Flare Trim is an ozone resistant EPDM rubber that mounts between the flare and the body of a vehicle. Using 3M-grade tape creates a solid bond between both surfaces. The company also produces lines of edge seal and trim products for decorative, marine and other enclosure-type applications that can be applied with adhesive or have molded-in tension grips. Trim-Lok Inc, Buena Park, CA. www.rsleads.com/304df-245

Linear bearing systems
T-Slotted modular aluminum extrusions using UHMW-PE bearings offer several advantages compared to traditional ball bearings. They are cost effective, have low maintenance requirements, are versatile, and are user friendly. These linear bearings are suitable as part of a pick and place unit, a material handling transfer system, a digital length measuring system, or an optical sensing mount. 80/20 Inc, Columbia City, IN. www.rsleads.com/304df-246

Single-board computer
The LBC-9017 Intel Xeon/Low Voltage Xeon processor-based PICMG 1.0 Rev. 2.2 compliant passive backplane SBC addresses high performance broadcast/media, datacom/telecom, storage area networks, industrial control & automation, and medical diagnostic imaging markets. The board supports onboard PCI and PCI-X (used by GbE) busses as well as an off-board 32-bit/33 MHz or 64-bit/66 MHz PCI bus. Diversified Technology Inc, Ridgeland, MS. www.rsleads.com/304df-247

Brushless DC blower
This compact, high-speed 24 VDC brushless blower has drive and commutation electronics embedded in the design, thereby providing 2-wire input. The impeller and rotor are balanced to provide vibration-free, low-noise operation. The 3.4-in. dia., 2.64-in. long blower can produce 11.5 in. of H2O pressure and a flow rate of 21.5 cfm. Windings for other voltages can be accommodated. Servo Magnetics Inc, Canoga Park, CA. www.rsleads.com/304df-240

Sealed keyboard
The KIT6003 compact NEMA 12 sealed keyboard and integral 1.3-in. trackball provides full 101/104 key functionality. The full-size molded silicone rubber keys feature 2 mm travel and hard gold contacts for reliability. The enclosure is small enough to be used in standard 1U rack-mount drawers and other tight applications. One model features 10 levels of backlighting for dim environments. CTI Electronics Corp, Stratford, CT. www.rsleads.com/304df-241

Wireless synchronizer
The GPS Wireless Clock System uses a combination of global positioning and FM radio signals based in a master transmitter to synchronize an unlimited number of freestanding clocks. An optional computer time sync can be connected to either a network server or stand-alone computers, and includes user-friendly software. The system is said to be more economical and reliable than traditional hard-wired systems. Primex Wireless, Lake Geneva, WI. www.rsleads.com/304df-242

Differential pressure gauge
Two types of convoluted diaphragm instruments detect small changes in differential pressure while eliminating fluid migration between high and low pressure. Series 1516 reads ranges of 0 to 1 and 0 to 50 psid at line pressures up to 1500 psig. Series 1831 and 1833 have larger diaphragms for increased sensitivity, with a range of 1- to 5-in. H2O to 0 to 8 psid at line pressures up to 150 psig. Orange Research Inc, Milford, CT. www.rsleads.com/304df-243
