Thermoplastic couplings.
The Spectrum series of thermoplastic couplings combine compact size, high flow capability
and light weight design to meet a broad range of coupling applications. The series is
available in three material options: Acetal, PVDF and PVDF+. The acetal coupling is used
for common applications. The PVDF body material has 316 stainless steel springs for
greater chemical compatibility, and the PVDF+ uses PEEK springs, so the coupling has no
metal components. The coupling series features a push-to-connect design and has a wide
range of port options. The Spectrum series is available valved or unvalved, and can
withstand operating temperatures up to 250°F. Parker Fluid Connectors Group,

Elastomeric spiders. Specially designed "spiders"
featured in the company's Jaw In-Shear coupling series fully separate the driving and
driven hubs, giving the traditional compression-type jaw coupling a new in-shear torque
transmission alternative and allowing the coupling to act as a "fuse" in case of
torque overloads. The in-shear design also allows easy change-out for significantly
simplified maintenance of mechanical power-transmission systems. Lovejoy,

Locking hinges. Infiloc is a rotary sprag positioning device that
offers a compact design package without the need to triangulate, as in conventional linear
sprag locking devices. Produced in glass reinforced nylon, this hinge is both strong and
lightweight. The original Variloc hinge is now complimented with a plastic model. The
series is also available in stainless steel versions. Adjustable Locking
Technologies, 27350 Southfield Rd, Suite 114, Lathrup Village, MI 48706-3409.

Rigid couplings. The Nomar line of rigid shaft couplings is
available in a 3-piece design, allowing for more convenient exchange or adjusting of
coupled shafts, particularly where the shaft cannot be axially detached. They are
available with straight or stepped bores from 1/4- to 2-in. (6 to 50mm) in aluminum,
carbon steel and stainless steel. All rigid couplings are supplied with anti-vibration
socket head cap screws. Ruland Manufacturing, 380 Pleasant St, Watertown, MA

Hinged shaft collars. These collars are designed for
installation into existing machinery or equipment, especially in tight spaces behind
components or assemblies. They have the same load carrying capabilities as standard
two-piece collars, and are available in 24 bore sizes from 3/8- to 4-in. with a black
oxide finish, and in stainless steel in 13 sizes from 3/4- to 1 1/2-in. for corrosive
applications. Stafford Manufacturing, PO Box 2370, Woburn, MA 01888.

Servo couplings. The X series of couplings is an effective
balance between couplings that are too stiff radially and those not stiff enough
torsionally for servo-type applications. The coupling features high torsional stiffness,
low radial loads, 1-piece integrity and zero backlash. A substantial parallel misalignment
capability reduces the need for high precision alignment during assembly operations. Helical

Shrink discs. The Peter line of clamping shrink discs are
keyless locking devices that "squeeze" shafts to gears, or shafts to shafts, for
applications requiring high-torque power transmission. The line transmits torque up to
1,430,750 ft-lbs for shaft diameters up to 40 in. The line provides a protective clamping
with easy shaft/hub assembly and removal without having to machine keyways. Rimtec
Corp, 1620 S California Ave, Palatine, IL 60067. 847-397-4267. Circle 682.
