Drive programming
The 2-part Electronic Programming Module (EPM) system contains a tiny memory chip that interfaces with the company’s SC drive. An optional hand-held battery-operated device can store up to 30 drive programs and transfer them to an EPM system in 2 sec. Changes can be made via the drive’s front keypad, from a PC (using RS485 serial input and the company’s free TechLink software), or by plugging the drive into the handheld EPM Programmer. No special tools are necessary to remove the EPM for programming and the drive does not have to be powered up. The user-friendly software guides the procedure with English instead of parameter codes.

Brushless drive amplifiers
Designed to reduce installation time by minimizing wiring, the GeoDrive family of brushless motor drive amplifiers consists of 1- and 2-axis, 3-phase amplifiers that operate directly off power mains (up to 230 and 480 VAC) for motor power and an external power supply of 24 VDC for logic power. Direct Two drive interface versions are available. Direct PWM interface accepts transistor control signals from the controller (usually PMAC2-type) while providing digital phase current feedback and drive status for closed loop operation. The MACRO drive interfaces with the controller through a fiber-optic MACRO 125 Mbit/sec ring accepting numerical command values and returning numerical feedback values over the ring.

Miniature encoder
Said to be the world’s smallest high-resolution incremental encoder, the 15g, 16 mm dia. 2MC offers line counts up to 5000 puls/rev (20,000 counts). High accuracy is achieved using true lines on disk rather than interpolated lower line counts. The encoder is supplied with a TTL output, and can operate at 12,000 rpm (200 kHz) within –20° to 70°C temperatures. It may be ordered with a standard shielded cable or ribbon cable mounted with a 10-pin IDC connector. Various accessories are available for mounting on most brands of fractional horsepower motors.

Programmable control system
The APECS 5000 fully programmable control system features engine protection and diagnostic features. Suitable for small spark ignition engines that power mobile equipment, the controller can be calibrated on any PC using the company’s ACT software. A universal speed input permits use with magnetic pickups, coil-type or magneto spark ignition systems, and Hall-effect sensors. A stepper motor actuator provides high torque while requiring low 0.6A/phase current. The actuator may be micro-stepped to 0.225 degrees accuracy for precise governing. Sealed connectors are waterproof for use in harsh environments.

PC motion controller
The eXMP-SynqNet stand-alone motion controller uses dual-processor architecture with a scalable Celeron processor running VxWorks, embedded NT or other real-time operating systems, along with the company’s XMP family Sharc DSP motion co-processor. Full PC functionality, including Ethernet, up to 4 COM ports and on-board flash memory are included. The eXMP supports CAN networking for integrated I/O programming using the company’s MPI motion programming interface, an object-oriented API that facilitates multi-threaded applications programmed in C or C++. Up to 32 axes of servo or stepper motors can be supported across a SynqNet network.
