Top Product

Superalloy fastener

  • strong, tough

  • corrosion resistant

This company now offers fasteners manufactured from MP98T superalloy. The new fasteners offer a minimum tensile strength of 180 ksi, and typical fracture values tested per ASTM E1820 exceed 200 ksi/in2. The alloy also resists embrittlement in high-pressure hydrogen environments such as found in rocket motors using liquid hydrogen fuel. Bolts made from this superalloy are available in various configurations and have been produced in sizes up to 1.75-in., with customized larger sizes possible. Maximum operating temperature is 850°F. The new alloy was developed by modifying the company’s MP159T alloy by using the same chemistry but different cold work and age hardening parameters. The tensile strength was reduced from 260 ksi to meet desired high fracture toughness requirements. SPS Technologies Inc, Jenkintown, PA. www.rsleads.com/306df-105

Adhesive tapes

Quarter-turn fastener
In its simple form, the Bi-Fix quarter turn fastener uses just finger pressure to click the fastener into locked position. This connection will not open by vibration or shock less than 100 g. Under axial tension, the fasteners become more form-fit until maximum load. A spring clip ejects the latch when it is turned 90-degrees in either direction. The Paneloc Corp, Farmington, CT. www.rsleads.com/306df-110

Rubber-metal adhesive
The Robond TR series of water-borne adhesives provide rubber-to-metal bonding comparable to that of solvent-based adhesives. BONUS FASTENERS & ADHESIVES exclusive to designfax.net

Thermally conductive adhesive
The EP21ANHT 2-component, room-temperature curing epoxy adhesive carries a thermal conductivity of over 22 BTU/in./ft2/hr/°F. It has a forgiving 1:1 mix ratio by weight or volume. Service operating temperature range is from -60° to 400°F. Shore D hardness is >85 and volume resistivity is >1013 W-cm. It has low shrinkage, low coefficient of expansion and is dimensionally stable. Master Bond Inc, Hackensack, NJ. www.rsleads.com/306df-115

Thread coatings
Designed to meet GM 4383 M specifications, three fastener head powder coatings are: epoxy, nylon 11 and nylon 12. Epoxy is applied by electrostatic spray or fluidized bed, and cured in convection ovens. Nylon 11 and 12 are applied by electrostatic spray and cured by a post heating induction process. These consistent and durable coatings prevent metal-to-metal contact and provide wear resistance. Nylok Corp, Macomb, MI. or www.rsleads.com/306df-116

Insert guide
This company’s Insert Selection Guide offers descriptions of each of its engineered insert series, discussing appropriate applications for each. These include heat/ultrasonic, molded-in, press-in and self-tapping inserts. A color-coded table recommends primary and alternate inserts, depending on plastic type and installation methods. Custom inserts are possible. Spirol International Corp, Danielson, CT. www.rsleads.com/306df-117

Drive binder head screws
These combination drive binder head screws are manufactured in nylon 6/6 and feature electrical insulation, vibration and abrasion resistance, chemical and corrosion resistance, low thermal conductivity, non-magnetic properties, and have a high strength-to-weight ratio. They are available in sizes 2-56 through 1/4-20 and lengths of 3/32- through 2½-in. Micro Plastics Inc, Flippin, AR. www.rsleads.com/306df-118

Lead-free solder paste
Multicore LF300 lead-free, no-clean solder paste is suited for high-speed, high-volume assembly applications.
