3-axis accelerometer provides high-stability solution 699star1

It doesn't  come with strings. Yet, this accelerometer forms a trio that sings a tune, "Cost-effective high-stability solution."

The LF series offers high stability and low noise for inertial measurements, seismic vibration sensing, directional drilling, automotive testing, stabilization, precision tilt/sway and orientation measurements. The series accomplishes this in either single- or three-axis configurations from a single sensor.

These accelerometers have models with a sensitivity span of ±1G or ±2G, with a bandwidth of 100Hz for DC applications. The accelerometer is a combination of a capacitive sensing element coupled to a signal conditioning ASIC. Available in plastic or aluminum housings, all have a maximum shock or acceleration limit of 2000G. The entire package is designed for minimal thermal hysteresis, providing good DC response.

The units operate on a single-5VDC or 8-30VDC unregulated supply. The LF series sensor provides a direct high-level analog voltage signal output. The output requires no external signal conditioning and is easy to interface to standard data acquisition systems. A standard A/D converter can be used to convert the analog output to digital for further processing. Each module's offset and scale factor is factory calibrated and tested.

An important feature of the LF series of accelerometers is its line of accessories. Full-featured configuration and analysis software is shipped with each system, and enables immediate use of the system right out of the box. The software runs on Windows 95, 98, NT and 3.1. A portable, user friendly data logger that operates on a 9V battery for three months is also available.

The LF series was recently adopted at Bridgestone, one of the world's leading manufacturers of tires and rubber products. The CXL02F3 accelerometer was chosen for their automotive testing platform. Because all three axes are integrated into a single sensor device, Bridgestone achieved savings in development time and expense.
