Due to be released for sale next month are versions of high-brightness Luxeon LEDs that will feature a correlated color temperature in the 3200K range. This is described by the company as the first warm-white, high-coloring rendering index (CRI) solid-state light source offered on a volume basis, as well as the first light engine to replicate the glow of an incandescent bulb. The emitter’s ability to mimic this spectral output, including a significant increase in rendition of deep red colors over both conventional LEDs and fluorescents, stems from proprietary phosphor technology. Average light output is 22 lumens. Initial applications for the lamp are in architectural environs such as in-ground uplights, step lights and wall washers.
