Slides
Precision BiSlide assemblies have dual 45-degree opposing "V"
ways to provide high rigidity in all directions. The carriage moves on low-friction
PTFE compound bearings which are fully adjustable to customize pre-load.
The slide is extruded from aluminum alloy with an I-beam cross section,
and dimensions of 3.4- x 2.15-in. Travel ranges from 5- to 80-in., with
straight line accuracies of 0.003 in. over the entire travel distance. Velmex
Inc, Bloomfield, NY.
Medium-torque gear drives
Drive One gear drives provide 6-sided mounting. For use as general-purpose
parallel or right-angle shaft drives, they are also suited for application-specific
duty such as shaft-mounted drives, mixer drives or alignment-free drives.
The design uses up to 60% fewer parts than traditional gear drives, with
components interchangeable between all Drive One units. Sizes currently
cover torque requirements from 150,000 to 500,000 lb-in. Falk Corp,
Milwaukee, WI.
Absolute output encoder
Providing a non-contacting, full rotation absolute output, the Sine/Cosine
Rotary Electric Encoder eliminates the need for index pulses, quadrature
issues, or homing during start-up. Insensitive to mechanical mounting inaccuracies,
the 58mm OD unit features a resolution up to 20 bits, accuracy to 16 bits,
power consumption as low as 50 µw, immunity to EMI/RFI, and operation
in a wide temperature range. Netzer Precision Motion Sensors Ltd,
Smithtown, NY.
Rotary actuator
The Series RI Rotary Actuator incorporates internal air passages within
the rotary pinion to facilitate pneumatic coupling to other devices without
external tubing. The hollow pinion also allows for the routing of items
such as electrical cable. The actuators provide 0 to 180 degrees of rotation,
and are offered in 25, 32 and 50mm bore sizes and six torque ranges, from
32 to 414 in.-lb at 87 psi. Options include switches shock absorbers and
bumpers. PHD Inc, Fort Wayne, IN.
Digital motor controller
Superseding the company's CX-1000 unit, the CX-1010 has embedded motion
control intelligence, eliminating the need to write code. With performance
in a 1 mse-loop time, the controller handles encoder frequencies up to 180
KHz, equal to 720 KHz quadrature "edges" when quad encoders are
used. The sensor power supply is 12 VDC, and the 32-bit microprocessor integrates
to any factory automation scheme. Contrex Inc, Maple Grove,
MN.
