Clamp
disks & rings
• withstand high pressures
• eliminate wear
Developed
to lock connecting machine components to each other by
hydraulic pressure, Amdisk clamp disks and clamp rings are
made from high strength bronze in which a Viton seal is
vulcanized, allowing them to be used with any high-pressure
hydraulic fluid. They are connected to a pressure port to
allow hydraulic pressure up to 4000 psi. The holding force of
these units depends upon the amount the amount of hydraulic
pressure applied. The clamp rings are supplied with an alloy
steel housing with its own pressure port. The center hole
allows drawbolt or rod to provide direct axial pull or
clamping force without twisting the rod. Because of lip seal
elasticity, the bronze clamp disk retracts slightly when
hydraulic pressure is released. The seal does not slide into
the bore, virtually eliminating wear.

Collet
closers
Economical
5C pull-back style collet closers are offered with threaded
nose. The closer accepts standard 5C collets up to 1-1/16-in.
dia., 5C step chucks for parts up to 6-in. dia., and expanding
nose 5C collets for ID holding. Operating at a max. 150 psi
air or 750 psi hydraulic, the drawtube force is 7.5X line
pressure, yielding a theoretical clamping force of 1688 lbs
air and 8438 lbs hydraulic.

Painted
flange coupling
The
painted S-flex coupling protects the flange from salt spray
and other chemicals, and is easier to handle than traditional
black-oxide components. Five models are made from die cast
zinc or cast iron, in sizes ranging from 3/8 to 5½ in.
Typically matched with a sleeve, these are available in EPDM
rubber, Neoprene or Hytrel, depending on application
specifications.

Spline-type
couplings
Series
A 5Z28M (metric) and A 5Z28- (inch) spline-type flexible
couplings are designed to fit 3 to 14 mm and ¼- to 3/8-in.
dia. shafts. Electrically insulated, they require no
lubrication, and dampen shock and vibration. Misalignment
compensation is 2 degrees with a maximum parallel offset range
of 0.007 in. (0.2 mm) and temperature operating range of –4°
to 140°F.

Clutch
The
MDC-series permanent magnet synchronous clutch transmits
torque from a motor to a flexible fixture. Several independent
fixtures can index their way over to a single motor with a
non-contact magnetic coupling. This style uses samarium cobalt
permanent magnets assembled on two discs, while keyless clamps
attach the discs onto the respective shafts. The clutch has no
touching or wearing components.

Miniature
disc couplings
Comprised
of two anodized aluminum hubs, a center spacer (double disc
style only) and multiple flat stainless steel disc springs to
transmit torque, Discflex miniature disc couplings allow
angular and parallel misalignment between shafts while
remaining rigid under torque loads. Speed capability is up to
10,000 rpm and standard and custom sizes are available from
0.125- to 1.25-in. OD.

Safety
mount
The
Micro AssemblySafe mechanical pivot point moves in the
direction of a robot crash to minimize recovery time and robot
end effector damage. The low-profile compressible safety mount
is only 1.3-in. tall and weighs 0.36 lbs, handling a maximum
force of 162 lbs and maximum moment of 83 in.-lbs. Reliability
is 0.001 in. and a clean room version is available.

Positioning
collars
The
Solution series of micro-adjustable positioning collars
consists of an assembly of two knurled collars that clamp
directly to a shaft, and features a male-female connecting hub
that provides a ½-in. adjustment range. Designed for accurate
fine-tune positioning, the collars connect using 40 pitch
threads that operate smoothly, each traveling 0.025-in. per
turn. Nine standard sizes range from ¼- to 1 ½-in. ID.
