Bolted joint analysis. BoltFAST can aid
designers in determining the fatigue endurance of a thread, the amount of embedding
anticipated in the joint, and the optimal tightening torque for given friction conditions.
The software uses three components -- a Joint Analysis program, a Thread Analysis program,
and a Torque Analysis program -- for analysis of bolted joints for "what if"

ABS modeler. Prodigy produces 3D models up to
8- x 8- x 12-in. No venting is required, and the machine is quiet enough not to disturb an
office environment. It can also page or e-mail an alert that the part is complete. STL

Finite element analysis. NE/Nastran V7.1 adds
two nonlinear elements to its Nonlinear Analysis Module. An adaptive 3D slide line contact
element allows modeling contact behavior between two deformable bodies. Also added is a
tension-only cable element that supports initial slack, initial tension,
temperature-dependent material properties, thermal loading and complete tensile failure.
