Liquid blackener
PX-5-L single-component blackening agent for stainless steels — including martensitic, ferritic, austenitic and Duplex — also works with cast and malleable irons. This quick-acting blackener is a liquid version of the company’s standard compound and has an exceptionally low boiling point of 250° to 260°F. The product is typically operated in seven stages: heated alkaline cleaner, cold water rinse, acid activation, cold water rinse, 10-15 minutes of immersion in the blackening bath, cold water rinse and oil. The product meets MIL-DTL-13924D requirements for Class 4 black oxide coatings. Baths use standard mild steel tanks, heat exchangers and fixtures, while dragout is very low. Expert assistance is offered upon request to maximize the customer’s stainless steel blackening line. Heatbath Corp, Springfield, MA.  www.rsleads.com/209df-233

Thermoplastic rubbers
Septon 4077, a SEEPS polymer, is suited for compounders seeking soft-touch and good physical properties. The melt-processable hydrogenated styrenic block copolymer exhibits rubber-like properties over a wide range of temperatures while providing good mechanical properties, weatherability, low-temp and electrical insulation properties, heat- and chemical-resistance, low toxicity and recyclability. Septon Co of America, Pasadena, TX.  www.rsleads.com/209df-234

Tint mix system
Specifically designed to meet the demands of stringent application processes and performance specifications, the DynaMatch tint mix system simplifies custom paint purchasing and color formulation processes. Using just one set of 16 high-pigment loading tint pastes, the system allows accurate color matching in a variety of bases, such as standard-, chain stopped- and silicon alkyds; acrylic enamels; alkyd-acrylic and polyester bakes; acrylic urethanes; and standard and textured polyurethane. NCP Coatings Inc, Niles, MI.  www.rsleads.com/209df-235

Materials testing CD-ROM
The Materials Testing Interactive Training Tool allows users to interact with text and images, follow detailed explanations of material characterizations, and see working demonstrations and video clips from experts in the field. Virtual rooms feature current materials testing equipment and software waiting to perform specific tests. At the end of every section, users can test knowledge and skills acquired. Ametek Lloyd Instruments, Hampshire, UK.  www.rsleads.com/209df-236

Rapid prototyping for metals
This company has introduced Quick Turn prototyping service for its controlled expansion (CE) Al-Si and Si-Al alloy machined parts. Five alloy grades are tailored to suit expansion coefficients of typical microelectronic substrates and devices. The alloys offer exceptional stiffness, thermal stability, and general weight and cost savings over conventional materials. Osprey Metals, Neath, UK.  www.rsleads.com/209df-237

Aluminum casting brochure
This brochure highlights the company’s time and cost-saving investment casting services, particularly for applications consolidating multiple details in a single piece. An extensive variety of large, complex, asymmetrical pieces is being produced. Aluminum castings can be manufactured in near-net shapes, with intricate cored passageways and sculpted surfaces. Howmet Castings, Darien, CT.  www.rsleads.com/209df-238

Overmolding
PolyTect soft molding product line has three new base materials: PolyTack is suited for applications where adhesion to all the components is required for mechanical strength and environmental protection; PolyFlex is designed for situations where extreme temperatures and flexibility are required; and PolyTran provides extremely consistent electrical properties where RF transmission properties are paramount. AVX Corp, Myrtle Beach, SC.  www.rsleads.com/209df-239

Non-radioactive tungsten
Designed for electrode applications, TriMix multi-dopant-blend tungsten takes the best qualities of three rare-earth tungstens and combines them into on new non-radioactive tungsten. The new mix provides reliable arc starting, especially after numerous prior ignitions, reduced burn-off rate, prolonged service life and high quality of arc. Diamond Ground Products Inc, Newbury Park, CA.  www.rsleads.com/209df-240

Stainless rebar
Several grades of high-strength stainless steel rebar include spiral ribbed rebar to resist corrosion in marine and chemical-plant applications, non-magnetic rebar for electric motors and MRI equipment applications. Four alloys —2205, 316LN, 18Cr-3Ni-12Mn and 304LN — provide an alternative to clad or coated carbon steel where durability issues overcomes preliminary cost concerns. Carpenter Specialty Alloys, Reading, PA.  www.rsleads.com/209df-241

Polymers
The RP6600 series general-purpose injection molding compound is designed for applications requiring a soft-touch feel and good surface aesthetics and colorability. Facilitating complex mold geometry, four black and natural FDA-compliant grades range in hardness from 26 to 56 Shore A, while a fifth translucent grade features 45 Shore A hardness, high tensile strength, elongation properties and suitability for brilliant coloring.
