Metal spinning.
This manufacturer offers custom contoured and formed metal fabricated parts from 1/4-
up to 140-in., for a wide range of applications. Designs include the use of aluminum, mild
steel and stainless steel in thicknesses to 1/4 in., and often incorporate very tight
corners, sharp bends and fine finishes. These parts are used in critical medical devices,
for chemical processing, in vacuum systems, dust collecting systems and for architectural
design applications. Parts are produced on a variety of specially designed CNC machines,
which include 100 hp, 2-roller spinning systems capable of shaping 0.750 in. thick mild
steel in up to 48 in. diameters. ACME Metal Spinning, 98-43rd Ave NE,
Minneapolis, MN 55421. 800-383-5971.

Metal casting. This technology has been developed to provide
product manufacturers with an effective method of obtaining complex metal parts without
the cost and lead time that is typically associated with producing a die-casting mold. The
Precicast process is just as effective for a quick delivery of 50-100 prototype parts, as
for rapid manufacturing of 10,000-20,000 production quality components with the same level
of precision and repeatability. NEST Technologies, 3849 Ridgemoor Dr, Studio
City, CA 91604. 818-761-6500. Circle 633.
Investment casting. Comprehensive facilities, competent
technical and production staff, and in-depth quality control ensures quality casting at
this facility. With the use of an optical emission spectrometer, chemical accuracy and
repeatability are assured at minimum cost by sampling each heat of metal prior to pouring.
When requested, in-house tensile testing is done for alloy properties and traceability. Johnson
Matthey Ltd, PO Box 367, St Catharines, Ontario, Canada L2R 6T7. 905-682-9258. Circle

Stamping services. Among the services offered by this
manufacturer is design assistance for engineers looking to specify the most cost-effective
and highest quality components. In addition to providing design assistance to customers,
the company can also design tools and dies for production parts through CAD design. The
CAD system is also used to communicate directly with customer's engineers. Stewart
Stamping, 630 Central Park Ave, Yonkers, NY 10704. 914-965-0816. http://www.stewartstamping.com Circle 635.
Motor customization. To minimize the effects of EMI,
differential line drivers can be installed on motor and encoder combinations to improve
signal integrity and prevent errors induced by noise. All DC motors and gearmotors feature
a modular design that enables customization with these and other components to meet
application-specific torque, noise, output shaft, and cost requirements. Pittman,

Rotating union design group. Due to the increasing demand for
complex rotating unions and varied applications, this design group is offered specifically
for custom services. This group can design a union to suit size, pressure, speed, or
medium; whether it is on, in or around a shaft, and in single, double or multiple
passages. The group works with customers to design a quality product to fit exact
specifications. Deublin, 2050 Norman Dr W, Waukegan, IL 60085. 847-689-8600.
