Sonicrimp joins similar or dissimilar materials to create gas-tight and moisture-resistant electrical connections without the use of solder, lead or high temperatures. The system mass-terminates solid or stranded wire, cable, flex circuitry, conductive inks, carbon fibers, headers or connectors directly to a PC board or a substrate. The process uses a polymer cap-and-cradle system in which the compressive load applied to each trace is precisely controlled ultrasonically to assure simultaneous, even distribution of energy. The process eliminates solder bridging, cold solder joints and environmentally hazardous materials, while preventing damage to heat-sensitive semiconductors or other components. Also, the method avoids the silver migration problem commonly found when using silver PTF in conjunction with ZIF-style connectors.

Hot melt adhesive system

The 3910 series Thermopulse hot melt unit includes a 10 gal. melt-on-demand reservoir and positive displacement DC motor driven gear pump. It can be used with up to 4 Electromatic applicator heads and hoses. Pressure is held constant within ±5% via a closed-loop electronic control system. Pressure is displayed on an LED readout, and the Microtemp temperature control maintains ±1°F accuracy.

Inserts for plastics

Single-component epoxy

Fully meeting USP Class VI requirements, the no-mix EP3HT Medical epoxy is resistant to repeated sterilization. Primerless metal adhesive

Metal Welder II is a 2-part, 10:1 methacrylate adhesive formulated for structural bonding of metal to other metals or dissimilar materials, such as thermoplastics or composites. Working time is 14 to 16 minutes, and functional cure is 2 to 4 hours at room temperature.
