Flame-retardant polyurethane. Estane 58244 thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) is a V-O rated, 90A polyether material
that exhibits limited smoke and toxicity generation, and good flame retardancy. The
material contains no halogens as additives in the compound, providing an additional
environmental advantage. The material is specifically designed for the wire and cable used
in mass transit and aerospace industries. Applications using Estane 58244 TPU include
profiles, tubes, and molded and/or thermoformed parts. The 58244 formulation is a softer
compound ideal for use in soft-feel injection molded parts. A similar compound, Estane
58170 TPU, is harder for applications requiring good impact, abrasion and flame

Flexible epoxy coating. BIO-GARD 257 is a two-part epoxy with internal Kevlar microfibers that provide strength and durability. The product is non-HazMat and does not contain methyleneadianiline (MDA). The coating can be applied and will cure underwater. Unique to the coating is its inert proprietary plasticizer that gives the product enhanced flexibility. As a result, it can bridge and seal small active cracks and handle excessive substrate expansion and contraction or vibration of surfaces. Application is generally by roller, although a brush, squeegee, painter's mitt, or heated, plural-component sprayer can also be used.
