In-line helical gear drive.
The 800 Series of heavy-duty drives offer a wide range of reduction ratios to suit the
output speed requirements of many applications, and a variety of input shaft
configurations for maximum positioning flexibility. They are offered with double reduction
ratios of 1.5:1 through 70:1 and triple reduction ratios of 36:1 to 250:1. Oversized ball
bearings have reduced straddle distance between bearings, increasing capacity for high
overhung loads. Housings are of gear-quality cast iron, and the high-speed and low-speed
shafts can be double sealed for severe applications. All units are adaptable to floor,
sidewall or ceiling mounting, and are designed to be dimensionally interchangeable with
many manufacturers' drives, with standard NEMA C-face flanged and direct input non-flanged
configurations. Boston Gear, Quincy, MA.

Ceramic planetary gearhead. Advanced ceramic components in this
gearhead provide improved performance and lifespan. The 22mm package can be ordered in any
of 55 different rations ranging from 3.8:1 to 3027:1, with a recommended input speed of
<8000 rpm. Maximum torque is up to 283 oz.-in. continuous and 424 oz.-in. in
intermittent operations. Radial load is 15.7 lb max. at 0.39 in. from the flange, and
maximum axial loading is 22.5 lb. Maxon Precision Motors Inc, Burlingame,

Overhung load adaptor. Motor pump bearing wear caused by
overhung loading in equipment can be eliminated by using a large model OHLA load adaptor.
The largest 1500 OHLA provides a radial load capacity of up to 72,500 lbs, and absorbs
potentially damaging vibration and stress at both input and output sides at speeds up to
2600 rpm. Hookup is through splined, threaded, double-male shafts or special housing
modifications. Zero-Max Inc, Plymouth, MN. http://www.1rs.com/012df-443

Shaft-mounted speed reducer. TORQUE-ARM II speed reducers are
offered in 12 case sizes through 600 HP and 450,000 in.-lbs of torque. The units have a
completely modular shaft mount, and the screw conveyor drive system has an expanded range
up to 40:1. The reducers are seal with double-lip, spring-loaded, rubber-coated oil seals
protected by metal excluder seals with rubbing lips. The line offers nearly 300:1 speed
reduction with V-belt drives. Rockwell Automation, Greenville, SC. http://www.1rs.com/012df-444

Bellows couplings. Belflex bellows couplings combine stainless
steel and aluminum hubs to offer superior performance, high torque capabilities and high
torsional rigidity in a zero backlash, low inertia flexible coupling. The devices are
offered in six outside diameters ranging from 19/32- to 2-in., in set screw and NOMAR
clamp styles. A large variety of inch and metric bore sizes from 1/8- to 1-in. (3mm to
25mm) are available. Ruland Manufacturing Co Inc, Watertown, MA. http://www.1rs.com/012df-445

Flexible couplings. The X-Series of torsionally stiff flexible
couplings have zero backlash and are suited for AC and DC servomotor-type applications.
The one-piece units have outside diameters from 15mm to 50mm, bore diameters of 3mm to
22mm, and are torque rated from 0.30 to 10.0 Nm. Accommodating three degrees of angular
misalignment, the couplings can be ordered with bores that are either inch, metric, or a
combination of the two. Helical Products Co, Santa Maria, CA.

Right angle gearbox. Applications requiring high-output torque
and dependability are a perfect match for the RAE G14, according to the manufacturer. The
single worm reduction, right angle gearbox, which fits 5 of the company's motor series,
has a continuous rating to 60 in. lbs and is offered in ratios from 8:1 to 50:1, with
speeds up to 350 rpm. The gearbox uses ball bearings throughout, and the standard bakelite
gear can be substituted by a bronze gear. RAE Corp, McHenry, IL. http://www.1rs.com/012df-448

Worm gear reducers. These single- and double-reduction speed
reducers offer extras such as sight gages and devices with up to 20-in. gear centers.
Flame hardened and ground worm teeth offer high precision, and the units are available in
metric and special sizes. A worm gear's high shock load capacity greatly reduces the
possibility of sudden failures, and the worm thread's contour doesn't change throughout
the life of the reducer, increasing durability. Joyce/Dayton Corp, Dayton,
OH. http://www.1rs.com/012df-449

Digital drive couplings. A full line of zero-backlash metal
bellows and torque-limiting safety couplings achieve high levels of elevated stiffness
without resonance problems, due to a polyurethane insert in the crevice. Especially
developed for dynamic CNC operations, direct-drive couplings are available in torque
ranges from 9 to 14,160 lb-in., on shafts from 1/4- to 3 1/2-in. Indirect-drive couplings
are also offered, in torque ranges from 265 to 14,160 lb-in., on shafts from 1/2- to 3
1/2-in. Rimtec Corp, Addison, IL. http://www.1rs.com/012df-450

Planetary gearboxes. LinearMount Series planetary gearboxes
connect directly to a linear belt-module or ballscrew. This eliminates the need for
purchasing a gearbox and coupling from different manufacturers. The single stage gearboxes
deliver 90% efficiency and 10 arc min backlash, and are offered in ratios up to 1000:1.
The robust design includes a ring gear cut directly into the housing, rather than
press-fit, and the unit is lifetime lubricated. GAM, Harwood Heights, IL. http://www. 1rs.com/012df-447

Keyless shaft-hub clamping devices. CLAMPEX shaft-hub keyless
clamping devices for metric and inch dimensions fit shaft sizes from 1/4- to 9 1/2-in. (6
- 240 mm) in several configurations (self-centering and non-self centering), with
transmittable torque up 58,000 lb ft.The devices provide backlash-free torque transmission
and a balanced assembly at higher speeds where keyways can cause unbalance in
shaft-to-shaft connections. KTR Corp, Michigan City, IN. http://www.1rs.com/012df-451
