Several NexPrene grades of thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPVs) have been approved by both Ford Motor Company and DaimlerChrysler for use in injection molded, extruded or blow-molded parts. The NexPrene TPVs are manufactured using a patent-pending process. According to the manufacturer, these products exceeded critical mechanical properties in the specifications in several instances. For example, tear strength was some 30% stronger than competitive established materials while tensile strength exceeded competitive materials by 10%. Specific grades approved are available in natural or black, and range in hardness from 55 to 87 Shore A for Ford and 55 Shore A to 50 Shore D for DaimlerChrysler.
