Urethane foams.

The Super Sheet line of materials are low-density urethane foams that effectively resist water and air permeation. The foam's cells require relatively little pressure to compress, yet the materials resist permanent collapse, making them ideal for gasketing and sealing applications. They are available in four standard grades varying by hardness, water-resistance, and density. The foams are cast as continuous sheets, rather than sliced from the bun stock. Slit and single-skinned thicknesses also are available. Easily and cleanly die-cut, the foams can be combined with standard 3 to 5 mil acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive, for ease of installation. 8512_502 Thermoplastic elastomers. The Santoprene and Trefsin line of TPEs perform like rubber, but process like plastic to increase design options, reduce costs, and cut processing time. During the past few years, TPEs have become popular in cosmetics packaging due to their complete colorability and varied textures. They are used as closures, caps, seals, bladders, and dispensing systems. Advanced Elastomer Systems, 388 S Main St, Akron, OH 44311. 330-849-5000. http://www.aestpe.com

8512_501 Melt-processible rubber. Alcryn MPR products exhibit great durability and weatherability. Because of Alcryn's resistance to oil, grease and gasoline, MPR is used for seals, gaskets, foot pedals and other parts. Alcryn MPR can be used to replace vulcanized rubber in applications up to 125°C. Scrap can be recycled with no detriment to performance or appearance. 8512_503 Rubber sleeves and tubing. The Grip Works line of sleeves and tubing is extruded from dense rubber materials including EPDM, CPE, and Nitrile PVC. Its durable, closed-cell finish is excellent for outdoor use. Properties include resistance to heat, cold, sunlight, ozone and many chemicals. Standard and custom sizes are available in diameters from 0.250- to 2.50-in, cut-to-length, or in continuous lengths. Grip Works, 13515 Barrett Pkwy Dr, St Louis, MO 63021. 800-797-7884. 8512_504 Urethane elastomers. The Durethane line is for applications requiring abrasion resistance and a high coefficient of friction. It is frequently used for rollers, pads, and other components in paper handling mechanisms for business machines such as fax machines, postage meters and ATMs, as well as printers and copiers. It is machinable and can be fabricated or ground to exacting tolerances. Mearthane Products, 16 Western Industrial Dr, Cranston, RI 02921. 401-946-4400.
