Analyzing design sketches gets FEAsy
Researchers have developed a new type of sketch design program called FEAsy. The program allows the designer to jot down a rough concept of a part and then analyze the part's characteristics — incorporating a software tool like ANSYS — while it is still only a drawing.

NEW! Navy's Ion Tiger UAV tests a hydrogen-powered fuel cell
The Office of Naval Research (ONR) program called Ion Tiger is testing a hydrogen-powered fuel cell design for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Currently, Ion Tiger is capable of 24-hr flight with a 5-lb payload. The goal is to increase mission distance and/or time while featuring more stealth.

If you missed attending SIGGRAPH 2009 in August to find out, you can view a video demonstration from University of Tokyo researcher Takayuki Hoshi and his team.
