Laser Mark Irregular Shapes at Production Line Speeds. The KEYENCE ML-Z9500 Laser Marker provides distortion-free marking of stepped and inclined surfaces, cylinders or spheres that cause problems for conventional markers. No indexing mechanisms are required to move the marker or products. The ML-Z9500 has the world’s first 3-axis beam control, a 42mm variable focal length and a large 300mm2 marking area. More info.

Enclosures: New practices in thermal and airflow analysis
Knowing how electronic components and enclosures respond to severe fluctuations in temperature and airflow is essential knowledge before the system is actually subjected to the potential stress of a real-world high- or low-temperature and/or high-altitude application. Read the full article

FEA helps ship hoist 1,000 tons
When a new anchor-handling tug supply vessel was built by NAS in Larose, LA, a 1,000-ton superstructure needed to be lifted by cranes for installation on the hull. Engineers performed ALGOR linear static stress analyses of key components to ensure that the ship could withstand the forces generated during the lifting operation. Read the full article
