Computer sim helps give BMW Z4 an extra 13 hp
Dinan, a leading North American BMW tuner, recently developed a Ram Air Duct designed to deliver greater volumes of cool air to the intake system of a Z4 as road speed increases. The Z4 uses a sensor to measure the air mass going into the engine, and testing showed that during heavy rain the original concept design directed too much water at this sensor. Dinan engineers worked with consultants at ANSYS to simulate the flow of air and water through the intake.
