Bipedal robot sets 100-m dash droid record
Cassie the robot, invented at the Oregon State University College of Engineering, snagged a Guinness World Record for the fastest 100 meters by a bipedal robot: 24.73 sec. An especially difficult challenge was getting the robot to start from a free-standing position, run, and then return to the free-standing position without falling, but the OSU team figured it out using targeted mechanical hardware design and advanced AI for control.
